Description

This sword is one of the many imported by the Union during the American Civil War from the swordmakers of Solingen, Germany. The standing knight stamped on the ricasso identifies this saber as a product of Wilhelm Clauberg. Blade decorations are the usual floral with the eagle and E PLURIBUS UNUM on the obverse side and US on the reverse. Lenght of the blade is 35 inches and the width at the ricasso is 1 1/8 inches. Condition: The sharkskin grip shows little wear and the wire is tight. Bright blade with a lot of original lustre. The browned scabbard is missing the throat piece. Gilt is mostly gone with traces in protected areas, the rest of the brass is an untouched dark mustard color. No dents, no rust. Please see pictures. Shippig is $40.00
