Description

This deluxe version of the M1902 saber has the state of Georgia?s seal as one of the decorations on the scabbard. The Bakelite grip would seem to indicate the sword dates from the early 1900s. The obverse side of the blade is etched with the name JAMES W. ENGLISH Jr. In trying to research the name, the only possibility that we found was a James Warren English Jr. from Atlanta. He was born 6/11/1867 and died 6/23/1914, age 47 and was buried in the Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta. He was a member of a prominent family in Atlanta. The saber was sold by The M. C. Lilley Co. of Columbus, Ohio. A major military and regalia dealer from 1873 to 1951. CONDITION: HILT near mint, BLADE bright with original luster except for a few small spots, most noticeable on the obverse side of the blade near the point. SCABBARD bright with the decorations in excellent condition. Please study the pictures. Shipping $40
